Radboud University Nijmegen (RU)

The Radboud University Nijmegen (RU) was established in 1923 and is one of the leading academic communities in the Netherlands. Radboud University has eight faculties and enrols over 20.000 students in 60 study programmes. The Environmental Science (ES) group of the Faculty of Science, Mathematics and Computing Science was founded in 1991 and has around 40 researchers. The ES research team aims to understand and predict both the relative and cumulative impact of anthropogenic stressors on species including humans. We translate detailed mechanisms into overarching principles, applied in models for future projections, such as in the life cycle assessment (LCA) of new products and technologies, climate policy and energy transitions. Within the project, RU is in charge of task 5.5, addressing new methods to quantify environmental impacts of prospective technologies within INITIATE; and of task 5.6, determining the potential generation of environmental, economic and social shared benefits of shifting towards the INITIATE symbiotic system. ES also contributes to WP6 (Commercial Implementation Plan).
