Swerim Receives First Batch of Functional Materials for the INITIATE Pilot Plant  

On the 27th of March, our project partner Swerim AB received a supply of functional materials for the INITIATE pilot plant.

The production of catalyst and sorbent materials for our pilot plant is jointly carried out by our project partners Johnson Matthey (JM) and Kisuma Chemicals B.V. (KC) as part of task 3.4 of our project. This activity will be finalised and presented by the end of the year.

This first batch delivered to Swerim includes catalysts (i.e., water gas shift catalyst, methanation catalyst, ammonia synthesis catalyst) and purification materials (i.e. different series and families of purification materials) in quantities required for pilot plant testing, manufactured at JM’s facilities.

A second batch with the sorbent material used in the multi-column sorption enhanced water gas shift (SEWGS) unit is being manufactured by KC and it is expected to be shipped to SWERIM by October 2024.

SWERIM will then apply these functional materials for the pilot plant testing that will enable the demonstration of the technology at TRL 7.
