INITIATE Showcased at Syngas Conference: Highlighting Industry Transformation and Sustainability
On the 10th of February 2025, Marian Flores Granobles from our project partner ArcelorMittal and Joey Dobrée from our project partner Stamicarbon presented the INITIATE project at the Industry Keynote Panel: Transforming the Nitrogen and Syngas Industry during the CRU’s 38th Nitrogen+Syngas Expoconference in Barcelona, Spain.
As the industry moves towards more sustainable practices, Marian and Joey provided valuable insights into the significant role the INITIATE project can play. Their discussion covered critical aspects of the heavy industry’s evolution, including pathways to future transformation by exploring infrastructure development, novel technologies, and emerging market applications. They addressed key challenges and strategic solutions for managing the transition to net zero and showcased how our project pathway can drive more efficient and sustainable iron and steel production. The session also highlighted the importance of collaboration for industry transformation and demonstrated how INITIATE can foster resource efficiency and sustainability through industrial symbiosis between the steel and fertiliser industries.
The INITIATE project is at the forefront of industrial symbiosis, bridging the steel and fertiliser industries to drive innovation and sustainability. This panel discussion provided a unique opportunity to share knowledge, explore new approaches, and engage with key stakeholders in the sector.
