CORALIS WORKSHOP ON DECARBONISATION THROUGH INDUSTRIAL SYMBIOSIS

On the 19th of December from 2 - 4.30 pm, our partner CORALIS EU project will host the online workshop “Thriving in the energy transformation: Bringing industrial decarbonisation alive through industrial symbiosis”.

The workshop will focus on viable options for decarbonising the industry, best practices and experiences from different perspectives (industrial pioneers, enablers, R&D solution developers). Attention will be given to the most difficult cases, the ammonia and iron and steel sectors, but also to hydrogen as a source of hope.

The CORALIS project aims at creating pathways for the decarbonisation of resource and energy-intensive sector value chains through the implementation of viable Industrial Symbiosis (IS) approaches combining new business and management strategies with innovative technology-based enablers. The overall approach of CORALIS will be demonstrated in a total of 3 industrial parks (lighthouses), each of them supported by an IS facilitator, a neutral actor in charge of guiding the IS initiative and exploiting its full potential. Moreover, 3 additional industrial parks (followers) will follow the project results in order to replicate them by implementing additional IS initiatives after the project’s end.

The collaboration between INITIATE and CORALIS aims at addressing the most pressing common challenges in the fields of funding opportunities for replication at the EU and national level; life-cycle analysis; regulatory framework barriers and non-technological aspects such as business plan feasibility. We’ll try to align LCA and TEA approaches, as well as managerial aspects between the projects.
