1st INITIATE Open Doors Day
The event will be hosted at the Lulea Swerim plant and will be open to representatives from local authorities, researchers from the Luleå University of Technology, local residents, NGOs and policymakers interested in deepening their knowledge around Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) technologies and the implementation of the INITIATE project in their area.
The aim is to foster social and public acceptance by promoting the concepts of industrial symbiosis, circular economy, and CCU to achieve climate neutrality in view of 2050.
During the Open Door Day, participants will have the chance to attend two high-level presentations on the challenges of decarbonising heavy industry and the role of CCU to mitigate climate change, as well as to take guided visits through the Swerim pilot plants and find out more about “CCU technology in practice”.
Swerim is a leading industrial research institute in mining engineering, process metallurgy, materials, manufacturing engineering and applications. Its strength is independent applied research for resource-efficient and sustainable industries, and it has solid knowledge and experience when it comes to applying research results in practical industrial applications. Swerim’s customers are mainly within the mining, steel and metal industries, but they also work closely with suppliers in these sectors. Within the project, Swerim is the operator of the site for the demonstration campaigns in Luleå, Sweden and has pivotal roles in both WP1 (demonstrator build) and WP3 (demonstration of operation industrial symbiosis).
